outfit of the day : winter brites , neon colored skirts

A couple weeks ago I bought these two super brite neon yellow and hot pink skirts from F21 (no longer available). They were on sale for $10 a piece and then I had to spend $30 to alter them both- total steal in my book! Don't worry, I linked similar styles below in case you wanted to snag you one or both. 

This is the jist of how I wore the neon yellow. I thought I was going to feel like a bumble bee with the black and gray but I ended up feeling more edgy with the black boots. Love me some rose gold too! 

This outfit almost felt very dressed down/cocktail party for me. Maybe it was because I didn't wear tights and it has been a while since my legs have been exposed. *gasp* But I felt nice and put together, plus I was super comfy.

Friends, I have something I need to admit...I think I might have an obsession with magenta. I wouldn't necessarily say magenta is my favorite color but seriously my closet is FILLED with it! As I look through some of my photos I realize there is this sort of bright trend going on.For some reason I am just really drawn to this color when I'm shopping.

Anyhow today's blog and my wear to work outfit of the day is brought to you by the color Magenta!

 Did you know when I was 6 I wrote to Matel asking them to please give Barbie some other color options besides pink?! I hated pink and was very frustrated that in order to get other colors with my Barbies I had  buy other dolls clothes. Well many moons later, here I am covered in it! I think I blame part of this on the hubs, a blame I'm sure he is okay with.

wear to work : dresses & tights = love!

The weather has become much chillier, as it should in December. Recently I find myself wanting to wear some combination of dresses with tights/leggings/opaques (whatever you call'em) and boots! Seems silly since the highs have only been in the 40's, but I find it so comfy and cozy. 

Example of what I wore yesterday:

- Classic white button-up 

- Blue v-neck dress 

- Mustard or Ochre colored tights

-Tan and camel colored waist belt

-Animal print scarf

-Tortoise watch

-Simple gold earrings

-Brown knee high boots

Check it out - I Googled 'mustard tights and boots' and look what I found! Ha, great minds!

This is sort of what I did with the dress I have on today. I bought it to wear to a July wedding and I am wearing it layered now in December! 

P.S. Target has an amazing selection of colored footed tights that are SO ridiculously soft, for only $4!! Seriously, I picked up four pairs the other day - black, mustard, navy blue and magenta! Hurry and stock up ladies, these are a necessary for the winter!

wear to work Thursday

I was going to try and do the inspirational work outfit every Wednesday but life is just busy like a bumble bee. So here is the basic gist of the outfit I wore yesterday. I don't have a picture of myself in the actual outfit. I know, sad.  ;) The pieces on the right are what I wore and then the 3 pictures on the left I wanted to share this cute new way to wear your scarves. 

1. Camel and White striped ultra soft Mossimo sweater from Target. I ended up buying it in a size large so that later on I can wear it with black leggings and boots! 

2. My fave earrings, Kendra Scott Wren in turquoise. Turquoise and coral compliment eachother nicely. 

3. Tortoise shell watch with Pave crystals that I found somewhere for like $15! 

4. Simple white work slacks that I'm sure I picked up at Papaya or Agaci Too

5. Peep toe cheetah print heels. The pair I own I've had for ages and they have little bows on them. Le cute!

6. A beautiful coral scarf that my Momma gifted to me

7. A gorgeous turqouise brooch that I received as a bridesmaids gift, to pull the colors together

Keep in mind all the outfits I post are meant as inspirations for you. It's so easy to put your own flare or style into them. 

The picture of the yellow scarf is where I got the inspiration from on how to wear my coral one. 

Here's how:

Fold the scarf in half. Loop around your neck. Pull only one strand of the scarf through the loop. Twist the loop and pull the other strand through the loop. Add your pretty brooch and voila!
