outfit of the day : winter brites , neon colored skirts

A couple weeks ago I bought these two super brite neon yellow and hot pink skirts from F21 (no longer available). They were on sale for $10 a piece and then I had to spend $30 to alter them both- total steal in my book! Don't worry, I linked similar styles below in case you wanted to snag you one or both.

This is the jist of how I wore the neon yellow. I thought I was going to feel like a bumble bee with the black and gray but I ended up feeling more edgy with the black boots. Love me some rose gold too!

This outfit almost felt very dressed down/cocktail party for me. Maybe it was because I didn't wear tights and it has been a while since my legs have been exposed. *gasp* But I felt nice and put together, plus I was super comfy.

my birthday tomfoolery re-cap

And again I'm a little late with the weekend re-caps and re-cap on my birthday celebrations. Seriously, we are half way through January and we haven't stopped moving since Halloween really. Okay let's not kid, the days I'm hungover there is quite a bit of stopping to be had. ;-)

Here is a picture re-cap of the seriously badace birthday shenanigans that took part! This one is definitely for the books my friends!

Like I mentioned before we went to have tacos and tequila on my actual birthday at appropriately named, TNT aka Tacos and Tequila. Check out my birthday shots! Mmm! Where my Mom and her boyfriend announced they are going to exchange vows, at get this -either at The HotterN-Hell Hundred or in Mexico. I opted for Mexico!! But either way we are SO very excited and happy for you two. It's about time! ;)

Saturday we took The Pubcrawler out for a spin! We were all a little hesitant as no one had ever been on it before and pedaling a 3000 pound bike only going approximately 5 mph in the  middle of downtown Austin all while drinking sounded a tad intimidating. Ummm ya right, not for this crew!! It was a riot to say the least!

You can bring a keg and that's where the little guy goes.

This is one of the last pictures of the night...yes one of my friends is on the ground. Ha! Wild bunch to say the least.

Mid-crawl, stopped off to play some skee ball and have a few shots!

Kickace, I got a birthday brownie cake! My friends seriously are the bestest!

Forgot forks, have no fear we will use our finners!

At the end of the night we ended up at one of the best Austin late night breakfast spots. I'm pretty sure I sounded like this (start at 00:33) on the way to the restaurant. *Don't be alarmed I was not driving, girl scouts honor.

And so I got my f**ing french toast ;-)

...with the majority of it landing in my lap.

But whatevs I was a super happy girl and wasn't too hungover the next morning surprisingly. Must have been the breakfast that saved me. By the way a big shout out to my Mom's fiance, he paid for every ones breakfast! Thank you mucho!

Oh and for my birthday I got all these lovely cards and flowers from my sweet friends and family. I love getting cards in the mail! Birthday love, y'all did it right!

Hubs got me these amazing Sam Edelman thigh high boots! <3

beer, pickle shots, tequila shots, brownies, french toast and I didn't vom any of it up *pats my own back*,

my favorite products: make-up & skin care

Anyone who knows me or has seen my make-up bag {or my bathroom} can attest to my product addiction.  However, recently I haven't been quite the product collector as I used to be, because I have finally found some products that work great for me! I get compliments on my make-up and skin every now and then so I wanted to share with you lovelies my favorite products. Maybe you too will find something on here that you have been searching for that will turn into your favorite!

daytime favorites:
this stuff rocks! minus the price tag. But it's so worth it. I have been using it for at least ten years. You can sweat in it, put it on lightly for a pretty day look, layer it on a little heavier for an evening look. However, I tried the new Matte product and I broke out the very next day. I think I was allergic to it.
just enough bronze for the months I see less sun
I used to be scared of using creamy cheek products but these are lovely. A few little dabs give you just enough stain and these have a touch of extra dewy glow to them.
4. Revlon Grow Lucious Mascara |
this mascara does what it says. I love it, read here.
I love gold toned eye shadows and not to mentions ones that enhance your specific eye color.

evening favorites:
6. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer in colorless or Laura Geller Spackle in Bronze |
I always use either one of these for special events or if I know photos are going to be taken. However, you could almost use the LG Spackle all by itself without any other make up for the day time.
7. Bath & Body Works Naughty, color changing lip gloss |
this was a very recent find. It has a great flavor, isn't too sticky and the color is really pretty. I actually use this during the day sometimes.
8. ELF Shimmering Face Whip in Lilac Petal |
this adds a pretty dewy shimmer for the evening. You have to be careful with how much you apply. Also don't put it over your problem areas (ie acne) because it will enhance it in a negative way.
9. Take a sip of your pregame cocktail... ;-) or maybe I had one too many cocktails while numbering the pic.
10. Tarte EmphasEyes Eyebrow pencil |
my Momma told me about this one and I am in love! It's so subtle and you don't get the 'I markered my eyebrows on' look.
I have very 'crepe-y' eyelids that don't like to show pigment in eyeshadows very well and that's where this comes in. It's like magic for my eyelids.
12. Maybelline Define A Line liner |
I like this because you can be very dramatic with the application or you can use the little smudger tip to give your look a little more a smoky look.
13. Sephora how to do Smokey Eyes kit |
this kit is fab because it gives you step-by-step directions (with pictures) on how to do the smokey eye look. Genius.

happy face:
1. Olay total effects foaming facial cleanser |
I love this face wash because it bubbles up and I can use it over my eyes (even though it says not to)
2. Olay Complete all day UV moisturizer for combination/oily skin |
I have been using this every day (and night) for probably 10 years. I love it, hands down. It's not greasy, it has a nice smell, it goes on nicely under make-up.
3. Philosophy Turbo C Booster powder |
a friend of mine introduced this to me a couple years ago and I use every so often and when I do, you can notice a difference a couple hours later.
4. Philosophy Microdelivery exfoliating wash |
another friend of mine recommended this product to me and I love it. It makes you face and your hands so super duper soft.
I like this product because it absorbs quickly but I haven't noticed a dramatic difference.
I have been using this since HS and I swear by. Especially for spot checking pimples. If I notice one coming in I put a dab of this on it before I go to bed and the next morning it's either gone or depending how bad, it's reduced by like 50%. No lie.

Do you use any of these products or do you have any absolute favorites that you have found recently? Just because I found my faves doesn't mean I'm not opposed to still testing out and trying new ones. Especially if it has to do with eye creams.

here's to being a girl,

first blog request : sass up my closet full of stripes! pt . 1

I'm so excited friends, I have received my first blog post request! Okay okay, yes it's from one of my besties. But whatevs, a request is a request right?! (Bare with me as I am very green with these.) I would love to hear any other request you hotties may have, too!

Request: Help! I have a closet full of stripes and blue and gray. How can I sass up my wardrobe with a few simple, inexpensive pieces?!

Suggestion: Sorry for starting with a 'wear to work' type outfit. But let me suggest easily paring this cardigan, stripe T and yellow belt with a pair of dark wide leg jeans (40% off right now!) and a neutral pair of flats (yes a metallic flat can be considered a neutral!) or heels (blog friends, I know these heels aren't exactly budget friendly, but a birdy told me the person requesting this blog just added them to her closet).

Tip: When mixing patterns be sure to keep the colors in the same family. Ex: my T and cardigan both have beige tones to them. Brighten it up with a small pop of color and keep the bottom very simple (black or dark denim)
 Voila! Super cute, sassy outfit!

A few Pinterest inspirations on mixing in some sass with your stripes:

This is a very bold but super cute example (I think I'm going to try out my own version of this).

She kept her scarf and long sleeve T in the same color family (easy to do with blacks and grays) and kept it simple on the bottom with black skinnies and black booties.

I hope this gets the wheels turning to help you shop your own closet to make a couple great new outfits! I'm excited to do pt. 2 of 'sass up my closet full of stripes'!

oh you sassy huh,
