wear to work Thursday

I was going to try and do the inspirational work outfit every Wednesday but life is just busy like a bumble bee. So here is the basic gist of the outfit I wore yesterday. I don't have a picture of myself in the actual outfit. I know, sad.  ;) The pieces on the right are what I wore and then the 3 pictures on the left I wanted to share this cute new way to wear your scarves.

1. Camel and White striped ultra soft Mossimo sweater from Target. I ended up buying it in a size large so that later on I can wear it with black leggings and boots!
2. My fave earrings, Kendra Scott Wren in turquoise. Turquoise and coral compliment eachother nicely.
3. Tortoise shell watch with Pave crystals that I found somewhere for like $15!
4. Simple white work slacks that I'm sure I picked up at Papaya or Agaci Too
5. Peep toe cheetah print heels. The pair I own I've had for ages and they have little bows on them. Le cute!
6. A beautiful coral scarf that my Momma gifted to me
7. A gorgeous turqouise brooch that I received as a bridesmaids gift, to pull the colors together

Keep in mind all the outfits I post are meant as inspirations for you. It's so easy to put your own flare or style into them.

The picture of the yellow scarf is where I got the inspiration from on how to wear my coral one.
Here's how:
Fold the scarf in half. Loop around your neck. Pull only one strand of the scarf through the loop. Twist the loop and pull the other strand through the loop. Add your pretty brooch and voila!

i'm such a lucky gal

T gets home from work yesterday and says "Babe! I want to buy you something. Something pretty and nice". I giggle and of course I say "youuuu betcha"! Because any wife in their right mind would never turn down or question the reason behind a sudden urge of generosity from their hubby. He did tell me it was just because, and because he hasn't bought me anything in a while and it is long over due. (I'm giggling like a school girl as I type this) Of course I don't ever expect any material items from him ever because he shows me with his heart and actions and words on the daily how much he loves me. But ladies, let's not kid ourselves - what woman doesn't like them some fabulous surprises from time to time?!
So guess where we go? To my most favorite jewelry designer Kendra Scott, who happens to be located right here in the heart of Texas! Her designs are fabulous and what's even more exciting is they have an in house Color Bar  where basically you pick the style of  jewelry you like and can insert any colored stone you like!! How lucky am I (my pocket book, not so lucky). But luckily my pocket book need not fret this trip as T took me to the store and we picked out a fabulous piece together! So much fun! He has such good taste too.

We ended up picking out the 'Zahara' necklace and I am so anxious to wear it this weekend!

What do you think? Who is your favorite jewelry designer?

glow in the dark make-up...yes please!

It's no secret, I'm kind of obsessed with make-up. And not just the dewey natural or smokey eye look. I love to experiment with all types of looks. This new make-up is so awesome and just in time for Halloween! Who says scary can't be pretty?!

"MAKE UP FOR EVER is taking artistry to the next level with the launch of an innovative new tool to ensure your makeup stands out. For the ultimate nighttime “glow,” MAKE UP FOR EVER introduces new Fluo Night, a translucent powder that enhances any make up to light up the face and body so it glows in the dark.  This universal loose powder can be combined with any cream, powder or gel based product to create a glow in the dark effect, without altering the original product’s hue. The ultimate day to night make up, Fluo Night will transform your favorite products so they become visible under Ultraviolet light, while remaining completely natural looking in everyday lighting.
To create Fluo Night, MAKE UP FOR EVER patented a new technology that allows certain pigments to become illuminated under Ultraviolet light. Fluo Night’s glowing effect is produced when the extra fine powder reacts with Ultraviolet light, which has a lower wavelength that is invisible to the naked eye."
I plan to pop into Sephora very soon to see if I can get them to mix me up a sample because let's be honest, $31 for something I will wear oh maybe two times a year...a bit steep IMO.

so crafty!

Guess who just found a new weekend craft project??! This gal did! How cool is this?!

busy weekend re-cap

Howdy doo everyone! What a wonderful busy weekend we had, jam packed full of events. The 'festivities' started on Thursday evening and didn't end until Monday night! That wares me out just typing that.
We started our Thursday out with Lone Stars and Angels party benefiting St. Jude's foundation that was held at the beautiful Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.  Not only was it filled with an open bar, great catering, silent auction and live music by Cory Morrow, it very much focused on why were there; to raise money for childrens cancer research. Such a beautiful event!

Cory Morrow and I!

What in the world you say?! Well we decided it was completely mandatory to stop in front of the Capital building for a quickie photo shoot! Because that's what you do after an open bar event and are 2 blocks from the State Capital.

A good friend of mine had this wonderful idea to celebrate her birthday with some close friends by taking a Belly Dancing class! She of course has been going for years and was great at it. But the rest of us had no idea what we were getting in to. She surprised us all before class with our very own belly dancing hip sashes to help us accentuate our shimmies. I only snapped this one picture because we were all so excited for the class to start.

So my Mom is pretty much an amazing woman and I aspire to be just like her every day as I 'grow-up'. One of the reasons I find her to be so amazing is she is a running and cycling machine! Her and her boyfriend are members of the Georgetown Triathletes club (he does Iron Man's, which is a story for a whole other blog post at a later date). Anyhow they had a social event at Mel's Lone Star bowling alley this weekend that myself, the hubs, my little brother and his girlfriend all attended. Theme: Crazy hats & Socks!

We ended up going two-steppin' later that night but were having such a blast I only managed to get one 'awkward face' photo. LOL! Chase calls that his two-steppin' face. Any takers, ladies?! :)

We stopped by a friends for an afternoon BBQ birthday celebration, where I also failed to capture the moments. Mostly because I was having play referee between Gunnar and Dixie, this adorable beagle/collie mix with a serious Diva attitude. Let's just say shenolikie wittle Gunnarman. It was a great time with some good laughs. I also found out that the birthday boys family sells a wine to H-E-B called 'Meat and Potatoes' which is such a cute name for a Texas vino. So if you happen to find this wine in your local H-E-B please grab me a bottle or let me know which store location!

Gunnar had his first trip to the park this weekend! Oh my goodness he had the best time playing fetch and running around with all the other dogs. I never knew a little dog could run so fast for such long periods of time.

Monday night was a night that I won't ever forget, it was definitely a "check" off of one to-do on mine and the hubs bucket list. We got to see the man, the legend, Mr. George Strait in concert!!! AND Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, Asleep At The Wheel, Randy Rogers Band and the Dixie Chicks at the Wildfire Relief Benefit Concert! This past Labor Day weekend Central Texas was struck with a terrible record setting wild fire that burnt over 600 homes and charred more than 30,000 acres between Bastrop and Paige, TX. Bastrop is a beautiful town about 30 miles East of Austin, as you can see in the 2nd pic below Austins skyline and the smoke from the fire right behind it.

This concert was absolutely amazing and how well it was organized for how quickly it was put together was very impressive. Erwin Center Director John Graham said. "Normally something like this takes four to six months to put together, and this came together in five weeks." Three cheers to everyone involved!

Ray Benson and Willie Nelson!

Oh George, how we love you in those perfectly starched Wranglers!

The whole party rockin' crew!

Until next time "Party on Wayne. Party on Garth",

my birchbox review

My Birchbox came in last week and let me tell it was very much worth the $10! All of the samples are sizes that you can get a couple uses out of!

It comes sweetly wrapped inside a hot pink outer box and then inside is a lovely box (reusable, IMO) with their foil logo.

Gunnar wanted to help open up all the products i.e. play with all the extra cardboard and tissue papers.

I've tried all the products so far except the oil for your hair and the clothes shampoo (plan on trying that one tonight). The mask smelled great and made my skin feel soft. The Spackle is a primer that has just a touch of bronzer in it. I almost could pull it off without any make up over it. But my regular make-up blended nicely with it. The lip plumping lip gloss was a beautiful color that enhances your natural lip color. Did my lips actually get more plump, I don't think so. But it gave just a touch of tingle to make it feel like they could.

All in all I loved it and can't wait to see what November's box has in store!

DIYish Halloween Costumes

If you're like my friends and I you don't really know until last minute if you're going to need a costume or not. I absolutely love making my own costumes, there is something rewarding to see your vision come together. Here are some great inspriations to get you started!

You can't ever go wrong with a classic costume. If you have red hair this would be an even easier costume to put together last minute. Come on ladies, every girl should have SOME kind of pearl accessories laying around.
I Love Lucy

I'm not going to lie friends, I'm really digging this one for my costume!

California Gurl

Or last minute I could throw my own version of Cleopatra together quite easily.

I really am drawn to these two costumes only because I would love to attempt these make-up looks!
